The Missing Link

The Missing link to your success.

Most of us have had that moment where we have had enough of the way we are feeling in our body. That moment where you see there is more. Where you know things have to change.

At first you are hyped up feeling motivated, knowing you are about to change your world around. So full of energy. Then this moment hits where you start to feel overwhelmed. That moment where it feels like there is so much you need to learn, to know, to do. You start second guessing yourself. Your narrative in your brain changes to, You can not do this, This is not you, you have no idea what you are doing. Have you been here?

I freaking know I have many many times before I found the missing link. In this post I will tell you what the missing links are and show you the key strategies to hit your success.

First Let me explain a few things…

It is mostly never because you have no MOTIVATION. We have the motivation to do the things we need to achieve the goal we have set out for. The problem is when things feel hard or overwhelming we default back to our old ways of doing. Our nervous system kicks in and takes over to take us back to our comfort zone. This is where we know we are safe, even when it's actually not a safe place. This is where things are predictable for us. This is where we don't have to guess or try new things. Our brains main purpose is to keep us alive no matter what. It doesn't like change because it has no idea what the outcome may be. It is unknown.

The best part is that our brain is neuroplastic. Neuroplasticity is the brain's ability to change and adapt due to experience Plasticity refers to the brain's malleability or ability to change; it does not imply that the brain is plastic. Neuro refers to neurons, the nerve cells that are the building blocks of the brain and nervous system. Thus, neuroplasticity allows nerve cells to change or adjust.

It only takes 63 days to change our neurons in our brain. Thus retraining our brain to the new way we want to live. When we consistently start doing a task and keep it up for the long term we are able to shift into this new way of doing.

STOP SAYING YOU DO NOT HAVE MOTIVATION!

Knowing this part is important to move onto the next step of consistency.

Consistency with your actions is where you start to build that new pathway. Each time that you do the action it strengthens the pathway. Making it less likely for you to divert back to your old ways.

Each time you strengthen this pathway it weakens the old one. Making it more likely for you to become aware of when you fall back into the old habit. The more we become aware the easier it is to keep moving forward creating the habit, the new way of life becoming second nature.

Think of it this way, normally you don't have to think about brushing your teeth. This has been taught to you from a young age and is now a vital part of your day. A core habit that was created through consistency thus becoming just a part of your everyday life.

Yes in the beginning it is going to take some really hard work from you to stay consistent. You are going to have to become very self aware. You are going to have to remind yourself often of why you are doing this action. You are going to have to plan to make sure you keep the action in your schedule.

YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO STAY CONSISTENT with it on the daily. Becoming more aware of how it is shifting your life.

In part 2 of the missing link I will walk you through some strategies to help you stay consistent to reaching your goals you have set out for.

As always I am rooting for YOU.
